Fire Protection Agent
ECOGARD CELL FLAME RETARTANT READY FOR USE
- ECOGARD ® Cell flame retardant is a special flame retardant with extra dry grip for absorbent materials which mainly consist of cellulose such as wood, paper, card and cardboard.
- ECOGARD ® Cell is halogen-free and is therefore particularly environmentally friendly.
- Dependent on materials, the following fire classifications can be achieved: DIN 4102 B1, EN 13773 C1, ÖNORM Q1, Tr1, EN13501 all classes.
Which materials can I protect with ECOGARD® Cell?
ECOGARD® Cell protects all absorbent materials made from cellulose, such as paper, cardboard, wood, carton, cotton, jute, linen, and decorative items made from these materials.
How do I best apply ECOGARD® Cell?
ECOGARD® Cell is a clear, 33% aqueous solution that is easily sprayed on. The ideal tool for this is the ECOGARD® pump pressure sprayer. In some cases, dipping or brushing may be necessary. Generally, evenly moistening the material to saturation before dripping is sufficient. Then allow the material to dry completely.
How much ECOGARD® Cell do I need?
Natural materials: 1 liter for 5-15m². The amounts vary depending on the absorbency of the material. Effectiveness must be checked through preliminary tests. If necessary, repeat the spraying process after intermediate drying.
Packaging sizes: 1kg bottle, 5kg canister, 10kg canister, 25kg canister, 60kg barrel

Application & Warning Instructions for Fire Retardants
valid from September 1, 2024
1. Observe work instructions, safety data sheet, and warnings
Before processing, observe the work instructions, safety data sheet, and warnings. Always impregnate only fully dried and clean materials. In general, cover all materials exposed to spray mist. Metals, plugs, electrical and electronic devices, as well as wood, stone, and sensitive textiles and wallpapers, can be sensitive to moisture. Residues of fire protection chemicals can cause damage such as rust or discoloration and are excluded as grounds for complaint.
2. Carry out preliminary tests!
There are fabrics and floor coverings, especially made from synthetic fibers and blends, that cannot be made sufficiently flame retardant according to the current state of the art! Therefore, preliminary tests are absolutely necessary!
3. Health and Occupational Safety
For general occupational safety and health protection, please observe the following points: Keep out of reach of children; Keep away from food, drink, and animal feed; Do not eat, drink, or smoke while working; Do not inhale spray mist; Wear a respirator mask; Wear safety goggles; Avoid eye contact - rinse with plenty of water if necessary - consult a doctor if symptoms occur; If swallowed, seek medical advice; After finishing work, thoroughly clean hands, clothing, and equipment with water; Be aware of the risk of corrosion to iron and non-ferrous metals (cover); Rinse containers thoroughly with water before disposal; Follow the safety data sheet!
4. Skin compatibility
ECOGARD® STANDARD 100 contains an active ingredient certified as an ACP (Accepted Chemical Product) according to OEKO-TEX®, making it suitable for textiles in direct contact with the skin of babies and young children. This flame retardant was specially developed for high skin compatibility and can be safely used in areas where direct skin contact is unavoidable.
The flame retardant products ECOGARD® CELL and BIO PLUS are also generally very skin-friendly. However, allergic reactions cannot be completely ruled out in individual cases, so direct skin contact with the products or treated materials should be avoided where possible. Therefore, the use of these products for upholstered furniture with skin contact is not recommended.
ECOGARD® B45 V.2 has specific hazard warnings according to CLP Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 and is currently recommended exclusively for applications without skin contact.
5. Observe official regulations!
Observe local official regulations. The buyer is responsible for inquiring in good time with the relevant authority as to which standards and proofs must be met. In many cases, authorities require proof of proper impregnation by a specialist company, such as factory certificates. Tüchler or ECOGARD® distributors offer these services. Note that there are no general approvals for flame retardants. All certificates are intended solely to document the general suitability of a flame retardant for a specific material or material group. Neither flame retardant certificates nor factory certificates may be used as evidence or proof of compliance with a fire-retardant class for the impregnated material.
6. Lighter test
The lighter test may only be carried out for personal safety by trained personnel, over non-combustible surfaces, in well-ventilated rooms, and only on separated material samples of approximately 10 x 20 cm. Note that the lighter test does not provide any indication of passing a standard test!
7. Attention after wetting, washing, or dry cleaning
ECOGARD® flame retardants are water-soluble. Wetting or washing dissolves ECOGARD®, and re-treatment is mandatory. After dry cleaning, the flame retardant effect must be checked.
8. Limitations of flame retardant impregnation
Flame retardants protect against small fires caused by accidents and carelessness. In the event of a major fire, arson, or the use of accelerants such as gasoline, flame-retardant materials fail and must be included in the fire load.
9. Side effects and disclaimer of liability
ECOGARD® products are designed for commonly used materials. Depending on the material, unwanted side effects may occur, such as: Impairment of colorfastness, such as lightfastness, rub fastness, etc., color shifts, reduced tear strength, corrosion, changes in texture, dimensional changes, altered soiling behavior, edge formation due to water droplets, allergic reactions such as skin irritation, dripping of the flame retardant from synthetic fibers, especially acrylic. Complaints and claims for damages based on the aforementioned or similar occurrences are excluded, regardless of the time between the occurrence of the unwanted event and the impregnation.
10. Flame retardant impregnation by TÜCHLER
Warranty claims by the buyer under the General Terms and Conditions can only be asserted if the items (materials) to be impregnated and other nearby items (materials) are approved in writing by TÜCHLER. Otherwise, the risk of color changes, dimensional changes, and any other changes, as well as compliance with the relevant standards of the impregnated items (materials) and any nearby items (materials), is borne by the buyer. The above points apply in full, especially points 5 and 9.
Note: Withdrawal from the purchase, exchange, or return of flame retardants is only possible for unopened original containers with undamaged seals. If the seal has been opened, broken, or otherwise altered, withdrawal and exchange are excluded even in the case of transactions subject to e-commerce or distance selling law.
